Hello Hawks! I am the Intervention and Instructional Support teach at Miguel Hidalgo Elementary School. I was born and raised in Riverside by first-generation immigrants from Guanajuato, Mexico. My first language is Spanish and I did not learn English until I began kindergarten. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Riverside in Business-Administration and a minor in Spanish. My career as an educator began by substitute teaching with the San Diego Unified School District. I was subsequently hired as a bilingual teacher and earned my teaching credential from the SDUSD Bilingual Education Credential Alternative internship program. I hold a multiple subjects Bilingual, Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) credential with a specialization in Business. I then went on to work for thirteen years as a dual immersion Spanish teacher with the Chula Vista Elementary School District before coming to the Brawley Elementary School District. Recently, I received a Masters of Art in Educational Administration from California State University San Marcos. I enjoy working with students and value a student’s primary language and their opportunity to learn a second language and become bilingual. My motto is that each day we should all aim to be BETTER TODAY, THAN YESTERDAY.
